    Weekly Update!

 The Midland Rotary Club

Weekly Update: August 23rd - August 30th, 2010

Hello Fellow Rotarians,
This week we will review and discuss our Club goals for the coming year. Some of these goals are new and some recurring (Sisyphus pushing that rock). Some will require more than one year to accomplish. All will require help from many hands.

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM
This week's program will be a Club business meeting. We will review and discuss to Club's goals, committee structure and budget for the 2010-2011 year.

NEW EXCHANGE STUDENT
Last week, our newest exchange student, Fiona Rappin, attended her first meeting. Fiona is from France and will need some time to become conversant in English. Her first host family is the John and Laurel Bucci family. Fiona is the third exchange student they have hosted.
Our other exchange student is James Worboys of Australia. James is halfway through his stay with us.

CAUSE PARKING
The men brought in $611 last Saturday. Congratulations to Scott Withrow, Jim Nigro, Bart Thompson, Jim Geisler and Ron Beacom.
Rather than declare the contest between the women and the men over, we have decided to extend it. Jim Nigro has indicated that we will get some bonus dates during the Loons' playoffs.

ONLINE MEMBER DIRECTORY
Don't forget to update your online member directory information. If you don't already have a photograph on your page or wish to replace your photo, you can either add one or send it to me. If you lost your link, let me know and we will resend it.

NEXT WEEK'S PROGRAM
Next week we will hear again from our Youth Exchange program.
Future Programs:
September 9: Dr. Pfeninger's life story- the power of prayer.
September 16: Annual report from Ann Filmore of United Way.
September 23: Paul Barbeau will review this year's successful Great Lakes Loons season.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Drummond

MAIN MENU – PHOTO SHOW!

Midland Rotary Club members took a work break and braved

the cold just long enough to pose next to our "traveling billboard"

parked outside while Bob Iwamasa took this photo.

This bus can be seen around town until the end of April, 2010.

Be sure to be on the lookout for it and be prepared to share

the story of Rotary's Polio Eradication efforts with members

in our community.
